Religious Icons are some of the most important images in Eastern Christian traditions-- but what would a contemporary, Postmodern Icon look like? This video explores the background behind my latest series of paintings, and hopefully provides a small window into the rich history of Christian iconography.

This video covers the first three paintings in a series (that I will hopefully continue) called "Postmodern Icons." In this series, I take religious icons (specifically, images of Christ) from various cultures and eras of art history throughout the Christian world, and unify them through my own reimagining. I recreate these images as pop art portraits in the style of Andy Warhol (who was a somewhat devout byzantine catholic, despite also having one of the largest collections of gay pornography on record. THE GUY WAS FASCINATING!)
